The ACLU of Nebraska is a nonprofit, private, organization that seeks to preserve the rights and civil liberties that the government may impose on. They don't usually handle criminal cases, divorce/custody cases, or discrimination cases involving private individuals or companies.

Child Support Enforcement

The Child Support Enforcement provides information regarding establishing child support orders, paternity, locating parents, and enforcing or modifying orders. They talk about what each one means, and how to use those services. They have other links on the side bar for other concerns, that a person may have, regarding custody.

The Civil Clinical Law Program

The Civil Clinical Law Program is a program where senior law students at the University Of Nebraska College Of Law provide free legal services in certain types of civil legal cases to low-income persons. Clinic Students work under close faculty supervision.

Center for Legal Immigration

The Center for Legal Immigration provides assistance with filing requests and appeals with the US Immigration Service including protected status for victims of domestic violence, asylum, family reunification, updating status, or appealing rulings. Low-income clients receive services at minimal cost. They can also assists with permanent residence, citizenship, humanitarian, and temporary stay in the US.

Legal Aid of Nebraska

Legal Aid of Nebraska is a non-profit firm which provides free civil legal aid to low income individuals. Legal Aid doesn't handle criminal cases.

Nebraska Online Legal Self-Help Center

Nebraska Online Legal Self-Help Center is a "virtual" self-help center that has information and links to legal resources to help you represent yourself in Nebraska Courts.

Access to Justice Center- Legal Aid

A2J is a self-help center is a walk-in place that provides legal guidance and resources to people who are representing themselves in court. All services are provided free of charge to Nebraskans living at 125% or below the federal poverty guidelines. Clients most also be U.S. citizens or have legal status.

Volunteer Lawyers Project

There are Self-Help centers operated by volunteer lawyers which may be able to be of assistance to you. Legal information, assistance with forms, and brief legal advice is provided through the centers which are open for limited hours. Offers are on a first come first serve basis. They don’t offer assistance with criminal cases and questions are not taken by phone.

The Mediation Center

Mediation is a process in which a trained mediator helps two or more people reach a mutually acceptable solution to their dispute. The Mediation Center offers mediation and facilitation services, and provides training in different areas of dispute resolution.
